The Princes Trust

Developing Programmes

The Prince's Trust is developing a range of other programmes to enable 14-25 year olds to develop skills which help them move forward in their lives. The programmes are targeted at young people who have fewer opportunities than others because of the difficulties they face.

In 2000/2001, over 7,000 will directly benefit:

  • sound live, a music development programme will cater for over 300 people.
  • Over 1,800 young people will receive a Development Award to help them enhance their life skills.

  • 100 young people from the UK, and 100 from overseas will benefit from a youth exchange through the World Youth Millennium Awards programme.

  • The M-Power group grant-giving programme supports over 600 young people to carry out projects which benefit themselves and their community.

  • Over 3,500 young people will participate in xl activities, development clubs for individuals 'at risk' of truanting or underachieving at school.

  • Over 1,100 mentors have been trained to support young people leaving care. Over 600 young people are already benefiting from their help.

  • Over 200 young people will benefit from European programmes which offer the opportunity to gain experience of working and living in another country.

  • In addition, The Skills Show*, a celebration of skills held in Birmingham, attracted 28,340 visitors, most of whom were between the ages of 14 and 22.
