POISED FOR SUCCESS IN THE BRIDAL INDUSTRY
A little support can go a long way!
A talented group of young designers, photographers, videographers, and others, all targeting the Bridal industry, came together to network, show their wares, share experiences and learn from experts on Friday, 23rd March at the offices of Schema in Covent Garden.
They demonstrated designs and approaches that are fresh, funky and leading edge. Excitedly they shared information about how to wear their fanciful jewellery, how to choose henna tattoos, how to decorate with wedding candles and how to position aromatherapy massage as a stress-reliever for the bridal party. They examined and admired each others' handmade and one-of-a-kind items - gowns, tiaras, commemorative albums and more.
Some of these young people are successful up-and-comers; others are still struggling or just getting started. But what they all share in common is support from The Prince's Trust, provided in the form of
funding and on-going mentoring. Each represents an individual story of talent and drive applied to overcoming barriers and succeeding in self-employment. They are living proof of the Trust's 'YES YOU CAN' message. Young entrepreneurs hoping to make it big.
One success story is Jenny Duck, a speaker at the event. With a Prince's Trust loan of £3500 Jenny started a catering linen hire business eight years ago. To the delight of the assembled, she told of having just sold her business for £200,000.
Energy and excitement were the order of the day. Ideas were shared, partnerships considered, and inspiration renewed -
in both the artistic and business sense.
