RECEPTION VENUES

When choosing a venue you need to consider a variety of issues to ensure that the venue is the right place for your day. The location is important. You do not want you or your guests to have to drive for a long period of time after the service to get to the reception venue. If you are having your reception in a hall check the surrounding area out yourself for accommodation for guests that might need it. You may be able to negotiate on room rates with the owner. If you have booked a hotel for your reception you will probably find that they will automatically offer you reduced room rates for guests.

If you are booking a hall you will need to check if you can supply your own caterers as some halls will have their own and will not let outside companies supply the food. You will also need to check what furniture they have on the premises and if the hall has a kitchen you will need a list of what equipment is in it. When you hire caterers they will ask about the facilities available to them so have your list ready.

Most hotels will have a wedding package on offer which will include food and drink, a toastmaster, flower arrangements in the room and even balloon arrangements. It is always advisable, wherever you have your reception to obtain several quotes and compare what each venue has on offer.
