CLOTHING
The Bride’s Dress
One of the most important things a bride will do before her wedding is choose her wedding dress. There are several options for the bride, she could buy a dress from any wedding designer/retailer. Some retail shops also offer the option to hire. The other option is to have your own design made up. If you are having a dress made ensure that you leave plenty of time to buy the material, have it made and have any alterations made to it.

The Bridesmaids' Dresses
Most brides tend to choose a colour scheme for their wedding. The colours chosen would appear in the flowers, at the reception in the form of balloons, napkins and sometimes even the cake.

Mind that step ..

The bridesmaids dresses could also follow this colour scheme. If you have both older attendants and little attendants it can sometimes look better to alter the shape and style of the dress to suit the age of the person wearing it.

Groom/Best Man/Father of the Bride & Ushers
It is not a necessity for all the men to hire the same suits. However if the bride wishes for the colour scheme to be included in the men’s outfits it can be achieved by hiring or buying waistcoats and cravats or ties in the chosen colour scheme.

Headdresses
Headdresses vary with each bride. Some like to wear a veil, others prefer flowers or a head piece such as a tiara. Whatever you choose it is a good idea to practice wearing it so you are confident that it will not fall off and it is not going to be uncomfortable throughout the day. Also, it sounds obvious, but think about the style you are going to have your hair in before you buy a headdress. For the best examples try here

Jewellery
This will obviously depend on the bride’s outfit. Try several pieces of jewellery and ask friends or relatives for their opinions. You should also look through bridal magazines to get ideas from them. The only jewellery which you must remember to buy are the wedding rings. Don’t leave this to the last minute because if you find ones that you like but they don’t have in your size, it may take a couple of weeks to order them.

Going Away Outfits
If the bride and groom are going away that night or the next day, a going-away outfit may be required Remember if you are spending a long time travelling in a confined space make sure that whatever you choose will be comfortable.

Lingerie
As with the jewellery this will depend on the bride’s outfit. There are many places where you can buy beautiful lingerie and obviously as it is your wedding day you may want to splash out and spend a little bit more than you would do normally. When you have purchased your underwear try it on with your outfit to ensure you that it complements the line of your dress. (See feature page)
