Traditions concerning the service

T
he tradition of the seating arrangement in the church goes back to days of old when the father would offer their daughter to another tribe as a peace offering so uniting them. The tribes where kept separate just in case one tribe member did not entirely agree and would try to kill one of the other tribe member.

The father giving her daughter away goes back to the days when a daughter was considered the property of the father and when she married he was handing over the ownership to the husband.
