| The
origins of bridesmaids dates back to when bridesmaid wore exactly the same clothes as the
bride so that evil spirits trying to bring bad luck to the bride would get confused,
ensuring only good luck prevailed, another possible origin is that in the days when the
wedding party had to walk to the church the groom and friends would dress alike and the
bride and her friends would do the same, this was to stop any jealous suitor trying to
cast a evil spell on the couple or kidnapping the bride or worse still killing the groom. |
 |
| The
bestman originated from the days when a man would kidnap his bride, obviously her family
would not be to happy about this so the bestman was there to help in a fight, then at the
service he was there just in case some of her family members decided to take her back.
Obviously to do this job the groom would choose his closes friend someone he trusted to
protect him at all cost and get him and his bride to safety/church, only the best man
(fighter) would do. |
